Chapter 59: Hey! Hey! Help is on its way!

When he squeezes, the duck squeaks. Fox still can't figure out how that works.

Phoenix remembers growing up in a house with a bathroom for every occupant. Now she shares one bathroom with her husband, and has given up on having any privacy.

Phoenix goes into labor late at night.

In the early morning, they come home from the hospital with another son, Cricket. Fox is now the father of two healthy sons, and he could not be happier.

Phoenix deals with an angry gnome invasion. She grew up in a house with dozens of these roaming around, but she never once seen them in such a state, and wonders what got them so riled up.

Fox is a full time stay at home Dad. Not that he has any concept of what that is, he just does whatever is required for survival. And since survival is so much easier here than it was in his own time, he has a lot of time to spare just to enjoy his life and his family.

Phoenix handles a fire at the house which used to belong to Foster and Carey. Carey moved out quite some time ago, marrying Roslyn McDermott after her divorce from Pelvis Eastly. That, at least, seemed to be fated to be. As for Foster, he's fathered three children on three different women, but none of them same women he'd had children with in Phoenix's ancestry. This toddler Phoenix is now rescuing is Foster's, with Keri DeLoach, who lives here now, without Foster, who she kicked out after discovering his many infidelities.

Wolf becomes a child.

And Cricket becomes a toddler. He looks just like his grandfather, Trent, who he will never meet.

The scientists have created a rift in the space-time continuum, and it's Phoenix's job to rescue them all. She considers telling them about her own time travel experience, but decides against it. Though she still misses her parents and her siblings, she's too happily settled here to ever want to go back.

Wolf hates sharing a bedroom with his noisy little brother.

"We could add another room for him," Fox suggests over breakfast.

"We could also use a second bathroom," Phoenix answers. Sharing one bathroom with her husband was one thing, but now there's also two sons.

Her income as a firefighter has been good, so there's enough money to add another bedroom for Wolf, plus the second bathroom Phoenix wants, as well expanding the kitchen a little.

No, you can't use the elevator. Because it's ON FIRE.

On Saturday, the family spends the day at Duck Pond, fishing.

Wolf's first catch is a gigantic frog.

After being traumatized by the enormous frog, Wolf gives up fishing to play with his little brother.

Wolf's very first painting reflects his love of the outdoors.

No one has ever told Fox that he's too old to play with toys.

Cricket becomes a child.

Phoenix buys a cake for Wolf's birthday. He invites his best friend Kamala Ramaswami, who became a teen the day before, to his celebration.

Wolf has his father's eyes and nose, and his mother's jaw and chin.

It's Wolf's birthday, but it's Kamala who gets the gift.

Kamala thought Wolf might have had a reason beyond their long childhood friendship for inviting her to his birthday.

"Can I take you out tomorrow?" Wolf asks, not at all shy or nervous, "On a date?"

"You know my parents are strict," Kamala answers, "You'll have to ask their permission first."

"I can do that," Wolf says, confident in his ability to charm her parents.

Kamala smiles. She was afraid her parents would scare off any prospective dates. "I have to go," she says reluctantly, "I have to be home before curfew. We'll be at Hills Park tomorrow, you can meet my parents then."

"I'll be there," Wolf promises.

Wolf meets Kamala at the park as promised.

Her mother, Priya, is very pleased to meet him, and quickly gives him permission to date Kamala.

Sanjay demands more time conversing with the boy before he'll bestow his blessing. The Romans live a strange, almost ascetic lifestyle, which Sanjay admires for its simplicity, but at the same time, he doesn't like to picture his daughter living without electricity in a log cabin.

"I'm not my parents," Wolf assures Sanjay, "I'm already drawing up the plans to add electricity to the house. And modern appliances."

Sanjay likes the boy's confident attitude and the determined way he goes about getting what he wants. "You may date my Kamala," he says, "Be sure to have her home by curfew."

Kamala happily rejoins Wolf when she receives parental permission. Sanjay glances one more time at his growing daughter before leaving her alone with her date. She could do far far worse than Wolf Roman, he decides. Not many of the boys in this town would be respectful enough to ask permission, he thinks, and he's happy the one she wants is the one who would.

"I'm so relieved," Kamala sighs, "I was so worried they'd say no."

Wolf laughs, "I wasn't worried. Your parents just don't want you out with the wrong type of guy. I'm the right kind, so I knew we'd be good."

Kamala has to laugh at his confidence.

Wolf was so confident of his success that he bought tickets for a concert that evening. Now that they have her parents' permission, the couple hurry to the theater for the show.

Wolf gets his first kiss as a reward for his efforts.

"Do I have to ask your father for permission to take you to the prom?" Wolf asks her before escorting her home.

"No, we are all clear. The next thing you will have to ask for is my hand. That is, if it comes to that."

"Noted," Wolf says with a smile.

Challenge Notes:
Phoenix got to repair a broken stereo at the fire station, so that makes 3 more electronic repairs before she makes perfectionist. I had to edit the fire station, as the one in RH suffered from routing failures. I also added a TV, a better stereo (originally it had just a boombox) and a washer and dryer so Phoenix could bring the laundry to wrk. Because we can't have laundry at home. It still costs money to use the firestation laundry, just like a laundromat. And the other firefighters use it too, which I like.

Wolf's traits are Artistc, Friendly, Loves the Outdoors and Perfectionist. He's the heir, though I was temptedto go with Cricket because he looks so much like Trent, who I miss. But Wolf is very interesting genetically, and also, I'm looking forward to the generation change so I can get showers finally. Also, a real stove and fridge that don't give the shitty meal moodlets.

Fox and Phoenix both have Renaissance Sim as LTWs. Fox has mastered Fishing and Gardening, and is very high in Cooking. Phoenix has mastered Handiness, is level 8 in Athletic, and will maybe max Fishing or Martial arts as a third.

  1. Amazing updates! So many birthdays!
I think that Cricket is adorable and Wolf is a little bit cocky, maybe too cocky for his own good.
I can't wait to see where this part of the legacy goes

  2. D'aw, I like the Ramaswamis. If I even spelled that correctly.

  4. Thanks guys!
A lot of time passed with not much going on, so this chapter had a ton of birthdays. Phoenix and Fox also became Adults, but I don't usually mention that birthday as part of the story.
I like the Ramaswamis as well. I'm glad their daughter is the right age for Wolf.
I adore Cricket, he's almost a clone of Trent, except for having Fox's hair and eye color. And I guess Trent is my type, as I was a little crazy for him. So it was hard to pass up Cricket as heir. But, ultimately, the Living in the Past requirements have really started to piss me off on a daily basis. The long baths, the crappy meal moodlets from the crappy stove, having to go to the school to sign up for after school classes because I can't use a computer, and I'm bummed I can't teach the teens to drive. So the sooner that is over, the better.

  5. I like Kamala. She's very pretty and should make pretty babies (if that is what you decide to do with her, lol). And her name is nice too. It sounds like something a man named Sanjay and a woman named Priya would call their daughter. Very authentic sounding.

  6. Sorry for the double comments. I forgot to say something.

AWWW about Carey and Roslyn! That is too adorable/funny/perfect! I love it when things like that happen :)

  7. Thanks, Colleen.
I always rename the children in the Ramaswami family to have Indian names. Kamala is one of my favorite names, it means 'lotus'.
    I think she's pretty too.
I was very happy when Roslyn divorced Pelvis and married Carey. They have a son, Leonardo.

  8. Cute! Love the first pic. =)

You got some really cool Firefighter emergencies! I never got a gnome invasion nor the science lab one. I only ever got the Evil Plot backfire or the air conditioning, which aren't very photogenic...

I like how you don't make a huge deal out of each birthday that passes. I might have to take a page from that book. =)

  9. Thanks, Red!
This is the first time I've ever gotten the gnome invasion and the science lab emergencies. I've always wanted to get those, so I'm pretty happy it finally happened.
My chapters are so picture heavy, I hate to burden them further with lots of birthday pics unless I'm having a party for the story.
