Chapter 3: Beast of Burden

Foster and Carey's sons are both born on the same day, Parker Enmity and Gibson Burden. The new fathers scraped together enough money to buy a larger house and two new cribs, but there wasn't enough left to buy basics like plumbing for the extra bathrooms, all they have is what they brought with them from their first place, so most of the house is empty.

Money is tighter than ever, so the guys try to avoid hiring babysitters whenever possible. Foster works night hours, so he takes care of the babies during the day while Carey busks in the park. Then Carey comes home in time for Foster's shift. When Foster comes home from work, Carey heads out again to jam with his band.

Foster Enmity is just not cut out for diaper changing.

Roslyn often comes home with Carey after the clubs close, sleeping with him even when they are too tired to make love.

Carey's head barely hits the pillow, and it's time for a 3am feeding.

He finally gets to go to sleep as the sun rises.

Roslyn does feel bad about dumping all the responsibility of parenthood on Carey, but she's confident he's capable of handling it. She isn't as confident in her own abilities.

Foster got a good night's sleep, he doesn't feel bad at all about leaving the 3am feedings to Carey. He prefers handling the 7am feedings.

"Why won't you marry Carey?" Foster asks Roslyn since he's alone with her in the nursery, "Are you crazy or something?"

"Why don't you marry Nancy?" Roslyn snaps back at him.

"Nancy isn't Carey," Foster answers, "I'm serious, if I were a chick I'd snap Carey up in a second."

Roslyn laughs and tries to dodge his prying into her personal business, "You guys are kind of married as it is. You don't really want me to interfere, do you?"

"Yeah, we kind of are at that," Foster laughs, "But he won't have sex with me. Seriously, though, Roslyn, there aren't as many guys out there like Carey as there are guys like me. Be good to him, okay?"

Carey has been trying to be more selective about where he plays for tips, trying to maximize his income by following the crowds. Vlad's Hollow is the creepiest bar in Riverblossom Hills. Literally underground, there's nothing here but the bar and a bunch of urns Carey hopes are decorative and not actually remains. The town's weirdest inhabitants hang out here until the sun starts creeping up on the horizon, and Carey brings in a decent haul of tips for the night.

All the jamming and busking finally pays off, Warm Gun gets it's first real gig, at the Red Shed.

Their show is from noon to 4, and absolutely no one shows up. Still, the band makes 300 simoleons.

It's been a difficult road, but Carey's dreams are starting to come true.

Customers start trickling into the Red Shed after the band's gig is officially over, including a very pregnant Maya Riley, expecting Foster's second child.

Carey decides to spend for a babysitter this evening so Warm Gun can jam tips at the bar in front of the gathering audience.

More people come out as the night gets darker, and Warm Gun makes more in tips than they made for their official gig.

Their jam is interrupted when Maya goes into labor. Carey escorts her to the hospital.

He doesn't have a car, so she drives him home after she gives birth to Foster's daughter, Jasmin. It's an uncomfortable ride, mostly silent until Maya blurts, "Tell Foster he's an asshole!"

"Foster is an asshole on purpose," Carey answers, "He doesn't need me to tell him what he already knows." Carey has had this conversation with countless girls. Once Foster has dumped them, they all try to use Carey as their message boy.

"I'm glad you'll be the one raising our daughter," Maya grumbles, "I'd hate to leave her alone with that self-absorbed jerk."

Maya drops Carey off, leaving baby Jasmin with him.

Challenge Notes:
That's three out of four required babies. I rolled 3rd child as heir, so it's Jasmin. Change of Scenery is achieved, though I was barely able to afford the house I built, and it literally has three unfurnished bathrooms because I couldn't afford to furnish the house beyond what they guys had in the first house.
I've been using master controller to move in the babies after they are born, so they all get random traits for the first two. Jasmin is Clumsy and Heavy Sleeper.
My roll for generation 2 is Single with help (again), primary career Music/Rockstar (again, I guess she'll take after daddy, lol) secondary career Mixology (which I've never done). The goal will be Living Green (yay, hippies!) and the misc fun is half-siblings (again!)
I'm amused by how closely gen 2 resembles gen 1. I almost rerolled the whole thing to get something different, but decided I should just keep what I rolled. At least it will be fun for me to continue the rock lifestyle theme.
I renamed the two boys from whatever random names the game had chosen for them. Gibson is of course named for the guitar. But Jasmin's name is what the game gave her. Personally, I would spell it Jasmine if I were doing the naming, but somehow it seemed right that Maya would name her daughter Jasmin, so I left it as is.

  2. That is the aura of evil Sims who have reached the top of the evil branch of the crime career get. That particular Sim is James Moriarity, one of the premades in town. That's what I love about Riverblossom Hills, there are a lot of fun references and details like that. Kiwi Tea really went into the details with this. :D

  3. Oh lol... I had one of those evil sims, but it was so long ago. I had her quit that job because it made her housemates hate her.

  5. Thanks, mimi! Generation 2 will have three kids. So at least that is one less than I have to have for this generation, lol.
